Althorp Hall Food & Drink Festival

The Vino Van Events Ltd was excited to be part of this year’s Althorp Food and Drink Festival, a two day event that features some of Northamptonshire’s finest food and drink producers and suppliers.

The event takes place every year in the grounds of Grade 1 Listed Althorp House, one of the country’s most impressive stately homes, it spills out into the stables and enormous deer park too, so there was plenty of room for roaming amongst the stalls, while eating and drinking some of the county’s best produce. Talks, demonstrations and exhibitions made the event all the more interesting.

Althorp Hall was of course Princess Diana’s childhood home and now houses a collection of Mario Testino iconic portraits of the princess. Also on exhibition is Walking in her Shoes, a showcase of 20 inspirational young people who have been awarded The Diana Award for their positive impact on society and others. It felt very special to be at Althorp Hall so close to the royal wedding of her son Harry to Meghan.

There was plenty of history to be soaked up at Althorp but this occasion was a food and drink extravaganza to get totally immersed in.  It was the first time that we’d added Skinny Prosecco to the menu and it was a big hit; as a low calorie prosecco, it’s definitely caught the interest of lovers of fizz.

It was fabulous to see some of the traders, such as Real Belgium Fries, Jelley’s Vodka and Farmer Lou who joined us at Foodies Night Market or who we’ll be working with in the future.  It’s one of the pleasures of attending local events and meeting people.

There were a dizzying array of exhibitors, far too many to list here! However, if you’re ever in need of halloumi fries, and frankly we’re struggling to think of time that we’re not in need of halloumi fries, then you have to check out My Meze BBQ.

See you at next year’s event?  We hope so.

Why You Should Choose a Dry Hire Venue

What, we hear you ask, is a dry hire venue?  ‘Dry’ does not sound good for any kind of celebration, but let us explain. ‘Dry hire’ simply means that you hire a venue that does not have its own bar or bar facilities, catering, entertainment or staff.  This may sound like a lot of extra work but there are many reasons why booking dry hire could be exactly what you need to make your event well and truly your own.

A dry hire venue could be anything from an exquisite room in a stately home to a cavernous converted warehouse, and everything in between – it’s only your imagination that can limit you here.  Any building or place of interest, with the right planning, can be turned into your perfect, bespoke party or wedding venue.

With the necessity to plan and hire everything yourself you gain complete control of the event, making it as personal as can be.  You can go wild with themes and props, choosing exactly how you want your blank canvas to look and feel on the big day.  For many event and wedding planners a dry hire venue is a dream come true as it allows them to really unleash their creative flair and show off their exemplary organizational skills.

Depending on your venue of choice dry hire tends to be a cheaper option which means you can shift your budget to finding the right bar team, caterers and entertainment to suit you and your event.  It’s undoubtedly more work, but with the right help it can make for a truly memorable occasion.  You’re paying for the event so why not choose something that really reflects your personality?

The Vino Van Events Ltd offers a choice of four new pop-up bars that are perfect for dry hire venues.  Built so they can be assembled quickly and easily but designed to look like a free-standing marble bar.  You can choose between a classic prosecco, cocktail, gin or full bar – though naturally we’re happy to discuss your ideas for the event.

For more inspiration on dry hire venues take a look here (http://venuesource.co.uk/style/Dry-Hire-Venues.asp?categoryID=8&qAID39589=yes) for some great locations and contact us (add link>) here to talk cocktails and bubbles – it’s what we do best, after all!

The Pizza and Prosecco Festival

There are two things that we love more than anything in this world, OK maybe there’s more than two, but these two are way up there; prosecco and pizza.  With that in mind, it made perfect sense to pair these two Italian darlings together and create our first Pizza and Prosecco Festival.  Can you tell that we’re rather excited?

Jeni Smith Photography

There are many things that are great about running The Vino Van, meeting exceptional professionals at events is definitely one of them.  Last month we attended the Salonista Wedding Fair and was lucky enough to meet photographer and Polaroid film  photographer Jeni Smith.

Jeni is hugely talented and offers bespoke packages for weddings, couples sessions or simply any event or moment you’d like commemorating.  She’s been shooting Polaroid film for some time now too and has recently added it into sessions to complement her still photography, believing that unedited it adds a real, un-staged touch to the occasion, another level to the session.

Jeni’s unique approach is to capture moments as they happen – she’s not the type of photographer who’ll jump in and arrange the setting and scene.  Believing that letting the situation unfold and capturing the outcome is how beautiful, natural images are created.  With this style you can expect relaxed, fun images that truly capture the sitter’s personality.

It’s always a pleasure to meet people who love their job, Jeni is no exception.  Her enthusiasm is infectious, “I love photographing wedding day details. Not just the dress or the cake, but all the little things that make the day amazing.”

Jeni’s work does not just involve weddings and social events, her Purple Heart Sessions is photography for families and couples who lead lives that are not easy and often very challenging.  The sessions offer families and individuals the chance for some fun, time out and a break from the routine, not to mention beautiful images to keep forever.  Anyone who knows an extraordinary family who could use a little pampering and fun can nominate them via Jeni’s website.

One of the highest endorsements for anyone who provides a service is repeat custom. That Jeni’s past clients very often return for updates to their family albums, anniversary memento sessions and to photograph new arrivals to the family is testament to the quality of her work and the customer experience she offers.  She counts many of her past customers as friends and has been lucky enough to photograph her clients all over the world. “Photographs are all about stories. My job is to capture and create the images that tell a unique and wonderful story.”
